Literary structure (chiasmus, chiasm) of Gospel of Matthew

Chiasmus and Concentric Structure of divided by 4

Four centers in divided in four structures are "Concerning retaliation" (no. 19, Mt. 5:38-42), "Jesus thanks his father" (no. 55, Mt. 11:25-30), "The parable of the unforgiving servant" (no. 91, Mt. 18:21-35), and "The institution of the Lord's supper" (no. 127, Mt. 26:26-30). Those have common theme of forgiveness. Since the Greek word about forgiveness (ἀφίημι) includes nuiances of permission and release, relese from sufferings (no. 55) is also included in this theme. This structure would emphasize the teaching about forgiveness by forgiving others, and the LORD supper as covenant of forgiveness of sins.
